Why Drug & Alcohol Testing:

With alarming statistics relating to drug and alcohol abuse, the need for drug and alcohol testing in the workplace is becoming more and more apparent in a number of occupations. Drug and alcohol abuse is not only detrimental to the individuals partaking, but it can also have a large impact on employers as there are a number of costs involved including loss of productivity, high absence rates, theft, loss of employee morale, increased health insurance claims, and many more. The main reasons behind introducing drug and alcohol testing in companies:

  1. Pre-employment: When employing new staff to prevent any drug and alcohol problems from arising in the future
  2. Random: To promote yourselves as a drug and alcohol free company by carrying out random, on-going tests
  3. For cause: In response to a drug or alcohol related incident within or out with your workplace
  4. Follow-up: Following up a staff member who has returned to work with a previous drug and/or alcohol problem

Unannounced Drug & Alcohol Testing

Instant urine drug test is cost-effective and easy to implement. Improvements over the years have made the results comparable to laboratory results. Although it is even better to get a confirmation of laboratory positive results, instant urine tests are an attractive alternative to sending all the employee samples to a laboratory for testing.

Features

The detection window in the urine samples is as early as two hours after use to 72 hours after use, depending on the individual’s metabolism and the drug. The results of a urine test indicate the presence or absence of certain drugs or metabolites of drugs in the urine. Metabolites are drug residues that remain in the system for some time after the effects of the drug have worn off. A positive urine test does not necessarily mean that the subject was under the influence of drugs at the time of the test. Instead, it detects and measures the use of a particular drug over the past days.

Testing Procedure

A sample collection process is performing on the customer’s locations. It is following with full Chain of Custody protocol with uniform collection procedures and integrity of analysis. The urine sample is delivered to our certified laboratories for urine testing and analysis.

Vessels sailing on the United States of America have to comply with the regulations for the 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP). This will be replaced by the Vessel Incidental Discharge Act (VIDA) in the near future.

The 2013 VGP requires targeted sampling and analytical monitoring for a subset of vessels covered by the permit. See table below for specific discharge requirements.

  • Bilgewater discharges must be monitored for any vessel constructed on or after December 19, 2013 and greater than 400 gross tons that discharge bilgewater to waters of the United States (see Part 2.2.2.1 of the VGP).

  • Graywater discharge must be monitored for any vessel discharging graywater to waters of the United States constructed on or after December 19, 2013, having a maximum crew capacity of at least 15 crew, and providing overnight accommodation to those crew, and vessels that are not “commercial vessels” discharging graywater operating on the Great Lakes (see Part 2.2.15.2 of the VGP).
  • Ballast water discharges must be monitored on vessels using a ballast water treatment system to achieve the numeric discharge limitations at Part 2.2.3.5 of the 2013 VGP that discharge ballast water to waters of the United States (see Part 2.2.3.5.1.1 of the VGP).
  • Exhaust gas scrubber discharges must be monitored on any vessels discharging exhaust gas scrubber washwater to waters of the United States (see Part 2.2.26.2 of the VGP).

Hair testing is the most accurate and effective method of finding users of drugs of abuse. Using small sample of hair cut at the scalp, hair analysis evaluates the amount of drug metabolites embedded inside the hair shaft.

Since each hair has its own directly blood supply, the ingestion of any illegal drugs will be transport by blood and trapped by the hair, which can be revealed by analysis a small sample of hair. Our testing method measures the drug molecules and the metabolites embedded inside the hair shaft, eliminated external contamination as a source of a positive test result.

Feature

Hair sample, the only time limitation for detection drug usage is imposed by the length of the donor’s hair. Each ½ inch of the head hair provides a 30-days history of drug use. The standard of the industry is the to test 1.5 inches, which provides a 90-days history of the donor’s drug use.

If no head hair’s available, body hair can be use. Bleaches, shampoos and external contaminants ( i.e marijuana smoke) have no known impact on test results.

Testing Procedures

In order to maintain high accuracy and reliability, and fullfill the licensing requirements of all authorities, the laboratory has simultaneously employed proficient methodologies.

Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) methodology, which has been proven reliable for the routine drug testing. Any sample that test presumptively positive in the screening process are then subjected to gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS), gas Chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (GC/MS), or Liquid chromatography/tandem mass spectrometry (LC/MS) confirmation testing.

The testing sensitivity and report accuracy meet international standards and the courts also recognize hair test results for Legal and forensic purpose.

Drug Test list

  • Amphetamine/methamphetamine/ecstasy
  • Marijuana metabolite
  • Cocaine and metabolites
  • Opiates (codeine, morphine, 6-acetylmorphine)
